Bob That Head Every Friday Night

I have an appointment to get my hair fixed tomorrow night. It's at a fancy-sounding salon in Yaletown (the one part of downtown I tend to avoid due to my not being hip enough or cocaine-y enough to fit in.) Robin assures me this particular salon isn't too hip or exclusive, though, and I'll be fine with all my bumbling awkwardness.

I'm kind of at a loss as far as length goes. My colour plan is to go darker with a few lighter strands around the face. I don't know what to do about the cut, though. Do I keep the side swept bangs or do I go for something more blunt (and truly become Kyla's hair twin?) Is it pathetic for a grown woman to use a photo of a toddler for hair inspiration?

Specifically this toddler:

So many questions. Suggestions are welcome; I've made it quite clear that I have no idea what I'm doing.

  1. I think you would totally regret bangs. They require too much upkeep. Everyone I know our age that cut them quickly grew them back out. Good luck!

  2. Bangs are kinda a pain in the ass, but I think side bangs would look very lovely on you!!!!

  3. HA! I totally want to bring that in the next time I have my hair cut. I would stick with the side bangs for now- the cut its self is going to be a big change. When you're used to it you can always go get them "trimmed" into a blunt bang for $10, if not for free once you're a client.

But I'm totally rooting for us to be hair twins lol

  4. Suri's hair is totally fair game. Just promise me you won't become a Scientologist.

I love the way bangs look, and I always ALWAYS want those lovely, thick, blunt-cut bangs, but I have to echo the sentiment that when I actually HAVE bangs, they drive me FUCKING CRAZY. If you're up for the challenge, though, I think it will look totally hot.

  5. Cutting bangs really depend on what your hair is like. Mine don't give me any trouble and are really easy to handle.

That said, I agree with Kyla, because you are cutting it shorting, leave the side swept bangs for now and if later you want to, you can get them trimmed.

Can't wait to see the new cut!

  6. I say go with the toddler cut/color. I've had that cut and color before and I find it flattering on almost anyone. Plus it feels super cute with a little dress and ballet flats.

Have you seen the website mopshots.com? I've printed out like fifteen photos of the cut I want once my hair grows out a little more. If this stylist is any good, she'll be able to steer you in the right direction. I'm sorry you had to deal with a crappy one first, though!

  7. If that is Suri Cruise, I can not condone simply because of who her father is.

  9. i'm with the rest - chop off the length for now and leave the side bangs, and you can add in blunt cut bangs later if you like it!

  10. I always base all my haircuts on Katie Holmes' hair. Maybe you should move your interest to hers.

  11. You may not believe this, but ... the fringe (not bangs, darling; that term is so 1998) looks really good. Your face is framed great. And I love the length. Again, great frame for your face and neck. Have your non-mall stylist clean it up a bit to make you happy ... but, I say go with it. You look lovely!

ps. I had no idea you were from Vancouver! Me too!
